Warsaw is a dynamic, born-again capital. Although much of the city was destroyed in World War II, immediately afterwards, a huge project was set in motion to rebuild the city. The Old Town, with its cobbled streets now lined with boutiques, and the impressive Gothic Cathedral of St. John are just two fine examples of the painstaking work which was done.

A number of elegant palaces and parks surround the city; these include Wilanow, a wonderful Baroque palace built for King Jan Sobieski III and the Lazienki Park with its 18th Century Orangery and ornate palace. Here too, you will find the monument to the composer, Frederic Chopin. His birthplace at Zelazowa Wola can be visited in a day.
